Hall bath change
So Metro Bath and Tile has completed all of their work on the Hall Bath. All our guests will be happy to know that the gross tub is gone, as well as the wallpaper. We still need to wash, spackle, sand and paint the walls, as well as install a mirror, but it is 10 times better already. You can see the little patch of glueless wall to the right of the sink. Now to decide on color. Alan is leaning towards the same green as our bath, but I'm thinking something lighter and warmer, what with no natural light and all.

Out with the old:

In with the new:

Old and busted:

New hotness:

The final step was their electrician installing a new silent exhaust fan so now the only insanely loud fan is the one in the powder room (assuming you don't count the fish tanks.) We also need to replace the old switches and outlets as they are also busted, and the two switches don't even match. Perhaps I can convince Alan to do that this weekend.

What are you using to clean the glue off the walls? I have two rooms that need to be re-done. I know I can't get the walls really wet, because it is old plaster.

I'm just using a sponge, warm water, and elbow grease, but over 1980's drywall. Thjora might have more suggestions with her massive amount of recent experiences. Good luck!

Much better! I am tossing around ideas in my head for making our master bath nicer. No natural light in there, either (in none of our bathrooms, unfortunately).

We have natural light in our master bathroom and I love it! It makes the green so soft. I half thought about how much it would cost to punch out a small transom window in the hall bath (high on the wall, behind the toilet) to allow natural light in. The plumbing all goes down, and I can't imagine there's any electrical, so I'd just have to worry about the hole created in the siding.
Of course, it's not too late... Wonder if I could talk Kirsten into it?

Are you sure there isn't a soil vent in that wall?

So, there may be bathroom work in my future. Would you recommend these guys? I see their ads all the time and wondered if they were any good.

Since this is the second bathroom we've had them do, I'd say we'd recommend them. I found out after the first bathroom that others had used them with success too.

They aren't the cheapest, but the parts and labor do have a one year anything warranty.
