non-event weekend
Had a lovely weekend. Friday Night was delivery sushi with Thjora and amazement at the wonderful basement that is actually one solid color. whoohoo. I didn't have an event on my schedule this weekend, deciding that I needed a break before the rush of Feb. Thursday night some folks had convinced me to drop by the local event for a few hours to be social, but come Saturday morning the enthusiasm had waned. I honestly wasn't thrilled at the idea of paying full price when I wasn't planning on staying all day and eating. So, I was lured by my errands and Arundel Mills, and went shopping all day instead. Found a great funky fabric for new curtains for the basement bar windows. I also got two new pairs of shoes (not at Nine West as alas they had nothing to tempt me that fit) but some lovely red pointy toed flats and some basic dark brown pumps from Liz C. Got a few new pretty tops, a new tan pair of pants and a new pair of jeans. Hooray!

I do occasionally have problems with getting in a color rut during shopping trips. Last August one day of shopping at Pennsic had me buy two green mugs and a green glass and something else green that day, while wearing my green viking. Two years ago at the Sheep and Wool Fest I was drawn to anything in a particular shade of pink. Saturday was coral/salmon. Found two tops I loved, a coordinating silk scarf, and had to put down several shoes and a jacket in that color. Was very odd. But I went in search of red shoes and brought one pair home, so that at least was a success and break from the possible salmon rut.

Saturday night after dropping off my event bailing/fun-shopping partner at her place, I headed home, and picked up Outback Take-away for the crew at home, and spent the rest of the evening hanging out with Thjora and Isobel and geeking on a number of topics. mmm... knitting.

Sunday dawned earlier than I wished and saw me on the road to a bodice fitting workshop at Giuli's with Leofwynne. That went surprisingly well, and we all got a little Tommy time and patterns drafted and details discussed, and all sorts of fun. Then our fair hostess had to feed the boy and get to a baby shower while Leofwynne and I went shopping at G-Street Centerville. I found some pretty lace for parts of the project, some fabric I think can be cool for a sheer partlet, as well as some small chunks of wool that I hope will work for some doublets as well. Got home, washed fabric, napped, and rounded out the day with a relaxing low key dinner.

Sadly I'm up a pound this week, but I did have chinese food two nights in a row (despite my attempt to order mostly healthy steamed food, ie not Generals Tso's) and I was seduced by the blooming onion and sauce and the chocolate covered raspberry gelatin sticks I picked up at Giant, which are now thankfully gone... into my belly! So, I'm seriously trying to be good and back on the wagon and more fruits and veggies, etc.
