kitchen
After we used Metro Bath and discovered that others used them with favorable results, I figured I'd ask first this time.

We're in need of recommendations for a kitchen cabinet remodeling. Yes, I know, we don't use our kitchen except for parties, but our cabinets are in dire need of an upgrade (resurfacing or replacing) and we'd like to add a few drawers to some of the lower cabinets, etc. So, any recommendations for companies/contractors in the DC Metro/Silver Spring area? We've got one rough estimate from Home Depot, but I don't remember being thrilled with the options at the time.

Our floors and appliances are fine, we have no complaints about our countertops (they are good enough for us) but we need new cabinet doors and surfaces, hardware, etc.

So, any recommendations out there?

No local recommendations for you, but consumer reports says that people responding to their survey (their customers) were happier with independent companies than with HD or Lowes for that sort of thing.

Large grain of salt here as it has been a while, and I didn't use them for cabinets (major appliance upgrade), but check out Bray & Scarff. They were totally professional, completely on time, and promptly fixed the one minor problem that cropped up. The won't be as cheap as somewhere like Home Depot. I did use Home Depot for the kitchen upgrade two properties ago, but that was for a straight replacement of current cabinets and countertops with nothing custom or terribly high end to deal with. In that respect, they were fine. But for something a little more complex, I think I'd go elsewhere.

I ordered cabinets from Lowe's and hired blueleader to install them. She was prompt, professional, affordable, and we had lots of fun!
