Night on the Town was lots of fun.

However, our pottery shipment had arrived, from our expenditures at Glades Pottery the weekend before in Florida, while we were at the event, and I simply could not resist unpacking the treats. So Alan indulged me and we unpacked all the pretties and  sorted them into piles, and admired the wonderful colors, and then contentedly headed to bed. I really should try to take some pictures of Walter's work in the sunshine to really show off how lovely his stuff is.

Sunday I had planned to head back to site for clean-up, but accidentally slept in and we didn't leave for site until almost 10am. When I called Gabrell he said that they were almost done and we didn't need to come out if we didn't want to, so we delivered Matt and Susan's pottery to them, and left Lisette's for pick-up as well, and chatted with the Susan a bit, and then headed home to work on cleaning and putting away and other chores, such as a much needed nap.

I've still got a bit of a sore throat (but am on the antibiotics so no worries) and am working my way out of grump and funk to life again.

Long delayed update from the weekend.

The weekend actually started on Thursday night with a Lost Cause gathering at our place. It was good to see everyone (but Kynny who stayed home with Zach) and just enjoy each others company while eating chinese delivery. It also made me try to get the house clean a bit early so the cleaning needed for the next party was minimal. I got to chill with Speedwagon and Susan some, putting kid-friendly magnets within reach on the lower half of the fridge, and making funny faces with him.

We hosted a work party at our place on Friday afternoon. Was nice to hang out in a laid back social environment with my co-workers. Lots of great food was left at our place, in addition to some open bottles of wine. I had hoped to go out dancing with friends, but after clean-up and a couple of glasses of wine, I decided to just finish the bottle and snuggle with my husband on the couch while watching TLC. Oh, I also did some DUI (wine and chocolate) posting to the Peli-list, but I was neither the starter nor the finisher of the drama that was embroiled this weekend. Luckily it calmed down on Monday, which was a good thing.

Saturday was sleeping in, cleaning a bit, Christmas cards fiddling, napping, making chocolate chip cookies [Update: the making of cookies was last weekend. Am brain ded.], and then off to a gathering at the Weese's place to visit with Marcus. God we miss him. Mark, on a quick visit home from his tour in Iraq, has a unique perspective on the world given his Army, Mannassas SWAT, and now Iraq experience. It was interesting to hear first hand accounts of the world over there, the steps they've taken to try to avoid IEDs, his exploding truck that did hit an IED that he and a buddy walked away from, hanging with the Ugandans, learning Swahili (recommends Rosetta Stone), the consequences of the surge, etc. He's very brave to place himself in that situation and I can't help but admire him. Luckily when he does get back (soonish?) he'll have theoretically a year before he can be deployed again. We had a great time and only left when everyone was beginning to subside and fall asleep. Mark's only stateside for less than a week before he goes back to the sandbox for some more weeks. May he be kept safe and sound.

Sunday was another relaxing sleeping in, a quick visit from Jimmy as he stole Alan for an armourer visit, a Target run and some wrapping of presents and such. All in all a good weekend, relaxing and spent with friends. I wouldn't mind a smidge of snow, but only two more workdays until I get a week and a half off for the holidays. Wonder what we/I'll do?

I think recording went fairly well last night. Didn't take as many tries for the first song as I thought we'd need, but the second one has always stumped us in the booth. Fine live, cause it's hard to tell we're all going slightly flat together, but on the recording when you could back it up to listen to the song again, you can tell the key change. booh. But we might just have gotten it, jury is still out. Afterwords we had a lovely dinner at Nichi Bai Kei in Columbia. Good food, good friends, all good.

I've also done some updates to the Lost Cause website. Needed a new look, and a new template. I like the sleekness of this one better, but it could just be me. The other template was far too classical for our overall jovial nature, and while this one may seem a little black and white, well, we're that too. Feel free to tell me what you think, or if you run into any problems. Kids, it's not too late to get a copy of Lookin' for an E for yourself or friends for Twelfth Night. :)

Today is nice and low key. Lunch was provided for we few, we happy few on our hall that are here the last day before break. It was nice to hang out and chat low key with some coworkers I don't see often. I've also put the shredder to good purpose today getting rid of some files from as far back as 2000 for a position I don't have anymore, as well as clearing some resumes for review from last summer. I had to change out the full bag thrice. But I have a massage appointment at 4pm, and that's hard to argue with.

Anyway, here are some other funny YouTube videos I've been sent:
Zombie Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjMiDZIY1bM
Hobbits in Chains would do a killer version of this song...
And a nice little Star Wars spoof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAL7w2ybTfQ

Merry Christmas (break) to all!

eh
Awoke in a foul mood, it has more or less abated. At least I have been fairly productive today. Or something.

Of course someone left a box of Ghiradhelli squares for all, so I grabbed a caramel one to snack on after lunch, the virtuous lunch of half a ham wrap and fruit. Only when I was back at my desk did I remember that we're heading to the recording studio to attempt to lay down a few songs tonight, so the chocolate is in the purse waiting until afterwords. Lurking, like a tasty little diet robber in the dark alley. heh. It's only one piece, I can take him.

At least this time we are trying to do XMAS music around XMAS as opposed to June. We realized also that marathon recording sessions only tend to degrade in quality. Better to schedule two hours here and two hours there to allow focus on a few songs at a time.

Another smiley today was when one of my faculty members brought me a hand painted in Mexico pottery angel candlestick. My initial (internal) reaction to the wrapped gift was "geez", but she is actually really cute. It's nice to be appreciated. I also have a huge chunk of my cork board devoted to cards of thanks from my various co-workers and faculty. Who would have thought work would give such a warm fuzzy? Nice when it happens. Wonder if there are any I really need to give such a card to. Perhaps those who support me. Need to ponder later tonight.

Got a huge grocery run done last night and mailed out the last big batch of cards. Excellent to have that out of the way. Now it is just replying to those I foolishly forgot. :)
